Terms of Service

1. Service description

ContractScan™ ("we," "us," "the Service") provides an AI-powered screening tool that analyzes uploaded or pasted contract text for consumer-protection risk patterns. The Service is a screening tool, not legal advice. Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship.

2. No legal advice

Nothing produced by the Service — including risk scores, findings, cancellation triggers, recommendations, or any text output — constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, or the practice of law. For legal advice or representation, you must consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. We are not a law firm.

3. Accuracy & limitations

The Service uses probabilistic AI analysis. Reports may miss risks, misidentify risks, or misinterpret contract language. Findings depend entirely on the text you provide. If your contract was misrepresented verbally, if you did not receive a copy at signing, or if promises were made outside the four corners of the document, the Service cannot know that. You bear sole responsibility for verifying any conclusions with a qualified attorney before taking action.

4. Free-tier and paid-tier use

Consumer scans are provided free of charge with no volume limit for individual, personal use. Firm and partner tiers are governed by separate agreements.

5. Acceptable use

You will not: (a) submit contracts to which you are not a party or which you are not authorized to review; (b) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service; (c) use the Service to practice law without a license; (d) resell reports without a partner agreement.

6. Data handling

Text submitted for analysis is processed in-session and not stored to persistent disk. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Warranty disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CONTRACTSCAN™ BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS OR (B) $100.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California.
